10 top tips to passing your test
- Don't assume that the
cheapest lessons are the best. You need to concentrate on
value for your money. You should try and get a discount for
block booking, most instructors will do this
gladly.
- Check out how long a lesson
really is. Some driving schools offer lessons that are only
50 minutes long. You pay for an hour you should get an
hour.
- Check for a green badge in
the windscreen to prove they are a fully qualified Driving
Standards Agency instructor. A pink badge means the
instructor is a trainee and has no formal qualifications to
teach you to drive.
- Make sure the car you will be
driving has dual controls and is in good
condition.
- Ask the instructor if they
can help with your theory test, and buy a good theory book
or CD-ROM to help you practise.
- Have a look at your records
that the instructor keeps, this will show your
progress.
- Apply for your theory test as
soon as you start your lessons.
- Agree a date and time with
your instructor when to apply for your practical test (pass
your theory and hazard perception tests first).
- Take at least an hour a week,
better if two, of regular lessons with a qualified
instructor. Your instructor will advise you on how much
tuition you should need.
- Make sure your tuition car is
available for a final lesson immediately before your
test.
